Sake Walk Around Tasting

Thursday 19 January 2017, 11:00am - 04:00pm

Unlike wine, where alcohol is produced by fermenting sugar that is naturally present in grapes, sake is produced by a brewing process, very similar to the production of beer, where starch is converted into sugars, before being converted into alcohol.

There are two basic types of sake: Futsū-shu (ordinary sake) and Tokutei meishō-shu (special designation sake); Futsū-shu being the equivalent of a table wine, which accounts for the majority of the sake that is produced, whilst Tokutei meishō-shu refers to premium sake.

Following the success of our last tasting, we are delighted to welcome the producers of some of Japan's finest sake for our tasting on 19th January.

We do hope you can join us to discover this ancient and mysterious brew...

We will taste:

Asahi Shuzo (Dassai)
Kato Kichibee Shoten (Born)
Masuda Shuzoten (Masuizumi)
Nagai Shuzo (Mizubasho)
Saura (Urakasumi)
Shata Shuzo (Tengumai)
Shimizu Seizaburo Shoten (Zaku)
Sohomare Shuzo (Sohomare)

Kyoya Distiller & Brewer (Kame Shizuku)
