This document has been produced by the Wine and Spirit Trade Association to help businesses navigate the changes that will need to take place to customs processes in the event of a No Deal EU Exit. Specifically, this paper acts as a guide for businesses to help understand the plethora of acronyms and terminology which are essential to understanding how the various systems work.

The labelling requirements for tonic wine have changed.

From 1st September, members that choose to apply the CMO guidelines must ensure they apply the new guidelines.

The WSTA recommend that, when possible, members include three minimum elements to communicate alcohol and health-related information to consumers.

At the end of last year, the WSTA turned to its members for their views on
what we do and how we do it. In a review covering all aspects of the WSTA remit – including communications, technical and regulatory support, data, committees, events and Brexit , members were able to tell us what worked and what could be improved.

Every business needs to understand what data it holds; why and how it
processes that data and why it needs that data.

Identifying and recording the lot mark/lot code is vital to ensure a product can be quickly and accurately traced through the supply chain. Under The Food (Lot Marking) Regulations 1996 (SI 1502), food which forms part of a lot (defined as a batch of sales units of food produced, manufactured or packaged under similar conditions) must be accompanied by a lot marking indication.

The purpose of this document is to provide producers and packagers of alcoholic beverages with guidance on how to communicate alcohol and health-related information to consumers, across multiple channels. This guidance has been produced by the Portman Group, in consultation with the British Beer and Pub Association, the National Association of Cider Makers, the Scotch Whisky Association, and the Wine and Spirit Trade Association.

The wine and spirit industry takes its role in responsibly producing, distributing and retailing alcohol very seriously. Across the industry, the WSTA looks to co-ordinate and promote these efforts and lead the way in ensuring that our industry is both responsible and sustainable.
