WSTA Services

The benefits of WSTA membership do not stop at our extensive campaigning activity.  As a WSTA member you have access to a wide range of products and services to add value to your business and save you money.    

Regular policy and public affairs updates
We keep you up to date on the key policy and political issues that have the potential to affect your business.   Our services include:

  • Free Daily Media Summary, a compilation of all press coverage relating to the industry;
  • Weekly Public Affairs Report, summarising key developments of the week ;
  • Electronic news alerts and in-depth briefings on key policy developments as and when they happen;
  • WSTA Newsletter provides you with a full round up of activity on a wide range of social, regulatory and technical issues and is distributed every two weeks. 

Professional advice and guidance
WSTA members have access to cost-effective advice on legal, regulatory and tax matters.  

  • The WSTA Member Helpline provides specialist advice and guidance to help you on matters such as supporting new product development and navigating regulatory requirements, including labelling.
  • The WSTA Legal Advice Line, run by the qualified legal and employment experts at Abbey Legal Protection, offers free advice on all aspects of commercial, employment and health and safety law, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 
  • The WSTA Fraud Prevention Unit works with police and customs to combat a range of issues affecting consumers and the trade, from identity theft and counterfeiting to wine investment fraud.  It enables WSTA member businesses to legally share information about actual or suspected fraudulent activity within the wine and spirit trade and where necessary liaise with police, customs and regulatory agencies.
  • Cost Reduction Service helping members identify savings that can be made across their business.

 

Networking 
Our committees, conferences and events provide invaluable opportunities for colleagues from across the industry to network and share best practice and experiences. WSTA committees allow businesses to discuss issues affecting the industry and shape our campaigning activity. These Committees range from Public Affairs to Distance Selling and Technical affairs.

The WSTA Trade Diary is used extensively by the industry to track and publish trade events. The Diary is updated daily on our website and available via smartphone app.

The All-Party Parliamentary Wine and Spirit Group events offer WSTA members the opportunity to come to Parliament and engage with MPs.

Market research and analysis
To keep you up-to-date with the latest market trends, WSTA members receive key consumer research and can access a wealth of industry facts, figures and statistics including the WSTA Market Report, an exclusive quarterly research offering a comprehensive overview of the current market, trends and consumer opinion. 

Business Services
You can save your business money through specially negotiated rates on services available to members.  Members can receive reduced credit card processing rates, offered by our partners HSBC. You can access specially negotiated subscription rates to trade publications including Drinks International, Just Drinks, Harpers Wine & Spirit Trades Review and Off Licence News and discounts on the latest industry market research.  
We have negotiated special rates on a range of training courses from the BRC and the BII, as well as Age Verification software.  We can also save members money on their energy, telecoms, insurance, waste and stationery cost. 

Publications
