Spirits Council

The Spirits Council offers a forum for member companies to discuss and guide all aspects of policy and trade relating to spirit drinks, enabling members to discuss issues around production, taxation and legislative matters affecting spirit drinks. On foreign trade matters the Council monitors and advises on the import, export and market access rules of the EU and Third Countries. Working closely with the European Spirits Organisation, CEPS, it develops and pursues policy positions for EU free trade negotiations. It offers a platform to discuss market conditions and consider matters relating to the protection of all spirit drink categories other than Scotch whisky.

Two working groups have been established, one aimed at RTD producers to look at issues such as taxation, trading, production and technical matters and definitions.  The other is the Production Working Group that has a scientific or production bias.
