Last Updated:December 15, 2014

Revised EU-wide food labelling rules came into effect on 13 December 2014 when most of the measures contained in EU Regulation 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers (FIR) apply.  The FIR sets out both general rules and responsibilities about the provision of information to consumers and also sets specific mandatory labelling rules that apply to pre-packed and non pre-packed foods.  The rules apply to all foodstuffs intended for the final consumer, including foods supplied to, or delivered by caterers.

This guidance, produced for WSTA Members, outlines the main changes to the current labelling regime and explains how the new rules will apply to the beverage alcohol sector.
