Industry leaders in WSTA Conference debate

 “Growth in a low growth environment”

Leading figures from the wine and spirit trade will join a panel discussing the economic issues facing the sector at this year’s WSTA Conference.

Today Programme Business Editor Simon Jack will host a debate and Q & A session reflecting on the challenges for businesses during a period of continuing economic uncertainty.

The theme of this year’s event is “Growth in a low growth environment”. 

Panellists include:

• Denis O’Flynn,  Managing Director, Pernod Ricard UK
• Alison Levett, Chief Executive, Enotria
• Glenn Caton, Managing Director, Laithwaites Wines
• James Walton, Chief Economist, IGD

The WSTA Conference will be held in London on Wednesday, 26th September.

Leading economist Sir Howard Davies will give the keynote address at the event, which will be hosted by WSTA Chairman Nick Hyde.

Sir Howard is one of the foremost economists of his generation and a former Director of the London School of Economics.  Previous roles included Chairman of the Financial Services Authority, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England and Director General of the CBI.  He was recently appointed to lead a Government review of airport provision in the south east.

The conference will include a presentation from IGD Chief Economist James Walton on the challenges facing the grocery sector. WSTA Chief Executive Miles Beale will also set out the key political and regulatory issues likely to affect the industry in the year ahead.
