Leading economist heads WSTA Conference line-up

"Growth in a low growth environment"

Leading economist Sir Howard Davies will give the keynote address at the WSTA Annual Conference in London next month.

This theme of this year's event is "Growth in a low growth environment", reflecting the challenge facing businesses during a period of continuing economic uncertainty.

Sir Howard is one of the foremost economists of his generation and a former Director of the London School of Economics.  Previous roles included Chairman of the Financial Services Authority, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England and Director General of the CBI.

Currently Professor of Practice at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris and a non-executive director of Morgan Stanley and the Prudential, Sir Howard will offer his perspective on the global economic picture and the implications for Britain's economy.

The WSTA Conference, hosted by Chairman Nick Hyde, will be held on September 26th.

This year's event will focus on the challenges facing businesses in the drinks sector amid a deepening recession at home and continuing economic crisis in the Eurozone.

WSTA Chief Executive Miles Beale said: "Our annual conference provides a forum for the industry's leaders to consider the major issues facing the sector.

"Set against an enduringly harsh economic backdrop I am sure WSTA members and others in the industry will benefit from the insights of one of Britain's leading economists."

Further details of the WSTA Annual Conference line-up will be announced shortly.
