Chateau Grand Puy-Lacoste Vertical Tasting

Thursday, 19 January 2012, 19:00 - 21:00

We are excited to launch or next vertical tasting on the fine wines of the 5th Growth Chateau Grand-Puy Lacoste. This estate has a long history of consistently makingexcellent wine and although a 5th Growth it is regarded as a Super-Second (just behind the 1st Growths in quality) "Chateau GPL is an estate which has for many years been consistently outperforming its classification" (Berry Brothers & Rudd). The estate covers 90 hectares of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot and the style of Chateau GPL really embodies the classic style of Pauillac combining the marvellous cigar box perfume with rich blackcurrant and cassis fruit and velvety power which is the epitome of top class Pauillac at its very best.

Wines on Tasting:

All the vintages are rated 17.5+ (out of 20) by the critic Clive Coates MW:

  • 1983 - 18/20 CC - 87 RP "Soft, round, with good concentration" (£65)
  • 1985 - 17.5 CC - 90 RP (£85)
